A new one for the picture of the week this week.  Every so often, I get an idea for a picture in my head, and then I have to try to create it with my frequently less than willing models (aka, my kids).  This was one of those.  Daniel has these ducks on a string, and once a week or so, he’ll spy them while he’s down in the basement playing, and not long after, we hear the ducks (and Daniel) coming up the stairs.  Then he informs us that he’s taking the ducks for a walk, and he walks through a few rooms of the house, then settles down at the computer to show the ducks how to play games on nickjr.com.  (Oddly, the ducks were Noah’s, when he was a little younger than Daniel is now.  And he didn’t care about them at all.  Daniel, on the other hand, loves the ducks.)  Last time the ducks came up for a walk, a seed got planted in my head, and this is the result.

Yesterday was my birthday.  So, for today’s snapshot, here’s the dessert we got at Famous Dave’s – biggest ice cream sundae I’ve ever seen!

The little man for this Picture of the Week had such a head of hair!  I thought his little hair-covered noggin was just adorable.

A few weeks ago, I mentioned my love of stick figure warning signs.  My friends from Richmond were kind enough to send me a few more they saw around town.  A big thanks to them for taking these pics and sending them to me (and allowing me to use them here)!

I’ve been meaning to make this a photo of the week for a while now.  My 6 year old came into the room while I was editing it, and just started laughing.  And with a smile like that, how can you not share the giggles?

Last week, I took my boys to North Carolina for a visit with their grandmother (and a week of superhero camp).  While we were there, we visited the fabulous NC Zoo.  It was hot.  As expected, there were a lot of sleepy animals.  Like the polar bear:

This sign was on the wall to the polar bear exhibit.  They have similar signs around the park.  I love the humor!

The elephants were wide awake, and moving (I guess the African animals are more used to the heat), which was amazing to watch.

After sauntering by the pond for a while, he decided to get in and go for a little swim:

A little later, his mother joined him for a quick dip too.  That was really something to watch!

The giraffes were spectacular too – wide awake and strolling around their enclosure.  Such graceful animals!

Despite the heat, it was a great day!  We all had fun.
