Snapshot Monday, Back to School Edition | columbia md family photographer

Monday, August 30th, 2010

Yup, my big guy got on the bus this morning to head for his first day of 1st grade.  He’s endlessly excited about this.  Over the weekend, he said, “I can’t believe I’m in first grade!  Sometimes it feels like I was just born yesterday.”  Yeah, tell me about it.

Hope everyone else in Howard County enjoys their first day of school today too!

We’re about halfway through our vacation.  It’s been a busy trip so far!

We went to Doumar’s:

We went to Busch Gardens and saw our Sesame Street friends:

And rode a lot of rides:

Noticed some interesting math at walmart:

And rode some dinosaurs!

And we’ve still got half a vacation left!

Yesterday was my birthday.  So, for today’s snapshot, here’s the dessert we got at Famous Dave’s – biggest ice cream sundae I’ve ever seen!

More Stick Figures | columbia md family photographer

Monday, July 19th, 2010

A few weeks ago, I mentioned my love of stick figure warning signs.  My friends from Richmond were kind enough to send me a few more they saw around town.  A big thanks to them for taking these pics and sending them to me (and allowing me to use them here)!

Legos! | columbia md family photographer

Monday, June 21st, 2010

For the snapshot this week, here’s proud Noah, with the lego creation he spent all sunday afternoon working on (while Mama was off at a session) – it’s a repair shop.  He’s since added on to it – there’s now a parking lot, a crane, and he’s trying to figure out how to add a car wash.  He’s convinced he’s going to get his picture in the Lego Club magazine.  Noah’s nothing if not sure of himself.

He even made a sign, to declare the grand opening of the repair shop, complete with balloons and kindergarten spelling, which I find endlessly cute.

So, should any of your lego vehicles break, you know where to send them.  Noah’s repair shop is open for business!

Nap Time | columbia md child photographer

Monday, June 14th, 2010

I love taking pictures of my kids sleeping.  My oldest falls asleep with a small light on, and sleeps like a log, so I can get pictures of him sleeping all the time.  The younger one, not so much.  He’s not a super light sleeper, but his room is DARK – far too dark for me to go in there and take pictures.  The other day, I went in to wake him from his nap, and he was completely zonked out, so I took a moment to raise the shades (he slept through it!) and snap a quick shot of him.  In case you were wondering, yes, he likes his stuffed animals.

And, just for something fun to liven up your Monday, I’ve got a special prize to the first person who can name all the stuffed animals he’s got on his bed in this picture, or the person who comes closest.  I’ll give you a hint – 5 of the 7 have something in common.  Happy guessing!

Stick figures as instruction demonstrations always crack me up.  From the ikea instruction guy to the warning signs on vending machines, they just make me laugh.  So when I saw this sign this weekend in Richmond, I had to take a picture of it:

Happy Memorial Day! | columbia md family photographer

Monday, May 31st, 2010

Happy Memorial Day, everyone.  I hope you’re enjoying your 3 day weekend and barbecues and such.  Our special event for memorial day weekend was to go strawberry picking!  So, for snapshot monday, you get 2 snapshots.  Consider it a buy 1 get 1 free sale :)

Here’s Daniel, taking his first taste of fresh picked strawberry.  He ate quite a few.

And I know this is going to make you want to go out and get some strawberries right now.

That’s less than half of what we brought home!  We temporarily lost our minds and picked 16 lbs of strawberries!

Forgetful | columbia md child photographer

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

I spent the first half of the afternoon today thinking I had to make a blog post.  Went out to get the mail and bring up the recycling bin, and thought, “it’s Tuesday!  Not Wednesday!  I have to do a blog post tomorrow.”  And then I remembered I didn’t do one yesterday.  Oops.  Not sure where my head was yesterday!

Today’s snapshot is from this weekend.  We went to Child-Fest, where we had the pleasure of meeting Elmo and Abby from Sesame Street (and their puppeteers, Kevin Clash and Leslie Carrara).  It was a fun Saturday.  Daniel is a gigantic sesame street fan (he even invited Abby and Elmo over for playdates) and while I don’t admit it too frequently, I’m one too.  Actually, I’m just a gigantic Muppet fan.  I love all things Muppet.  So it was pretty special for me too to meet these superstars of the preschool set.  Possibly even more exciting was I got this:

That’s a really bad pictures (from my cell) of the inside page of my copy of My Life as a Furry Red Monster signed by Mr Clash and the furry red monster himself.

Statue | columbia md family photographer

Monday, May 17th, 2010

This weekend we went to Wine in the Woods.  Always a good time.  Every year, they have people dressed as statues, and they’re always willing to pose for pictures.

They amaze me, because they look so realistic – until they move.  Though I do always wonder how long it takes to get all that paint off them!  Can’t imagine that’s fun to apply or remove!

And yeah, my kid looks like a goofball in that picture.
