Before I get to the picture of the week, a quick announcement.  I am accepting a limited number of newborn models for a casting call this winter.  If you’re pregnant, and due between January and March, or know someone who is, please, check out my Casting Calls.

My younger son is obsessed with puzzles of late.  He even sleeps with one.  He’ll spend huge stretches of time working on the same puzzle over and over.  This is his newest – dinosaurs.

(When he’s taking apart this puzzle, he usually tells one of the dinosaurs, “don’t worry, you’ll get your mouth back soon.”  There’s never a day without a laugh with him around!)

Today I got to meet S.  She’s 8 days old and the sweetest thing.  She was so well behaved for her big modeling debut – she slept almost the entire time.  You really can’t ask for more cooperation from a newborn.  Her mom was nice enough to answer my call for newborns, and S was considerate enough to be born after November 1.

Here she is modeling one of the hats.  I just adore this hat.  It’s sooooo cute.

I truly love photographing newborns.  It takes a long time, and we’re all roasting while I’m there (so naked babies will be comfortable), but they’re probably my favorite age.  They’re just so new and fresh.

It was great to meet you today, baby S.  Thanks for modeling for me.

I have a very exciting opportunity for parents of newborns. A nationally published crochet designer (who also happens to be a friend of my mother) is designing several newborn hats for me to use in my photography!

Because of this, I need a couple of newborns to model them. The pictures will be published, without identifying information, on the patterns for the hats, so the parents will need to sign a model release, allowing the images to be used both by me and by the designer.  In exchange for signing this release, I will waive the session fee, plus, you will receive a free set of 5×7 flat Birth Announcements (a $75 value).

At this time, I do not have any hats in need of modeling.  I should be getting more in the future, so if you’re interested, please contact me.  Newborn sessions must take place within the first 10 days after the baby’s birth.
